World War II Memorial - Bedford, Virginia
We recently visited the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia, which is approximately 4 hours outside of Washington, D.C. The memorial is situated in Bedford because the town suffered the greatest per capita D-Day losses in the entire nation. The memorial honors the Allied forces that participated in the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 where more than 9,000 allied soliders were either killed or wounded as the march across Europe to defeat Hitler began. A MUST see memorial!

You took some really nice photos of the various statues! I particularly like the American flags along the Purple Heart wall. I also noticed you were able to get one of your signature Bench Shots! Nice blog!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty stark memorial. I've seen a lot of them, but never one with the soldiers struggling ashore like this one. I am putting this on my list of things to see!
