Warrior Dash 2012

Once again, Anton talked me into another running race.   However, we were not alone this time....we brought Kim and she, as all warriors do, led from the front.  Along with running, we leaped over fire, crawled under barbed wire, and trudged through muddy waters.  Although, this was her first race, it was definently not her last.  Perhaps another race monster is born!  Did I mention the FREE beer at the end?  Enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed the race.

Before....

Is this ever gonna start?

Are we tough or what?

World War II Memorial - Bedford, Virginia

We recently visited the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia, which is approximately 4 hours outside of Washington, D.C.  The memorial is situated in Bedford because the town suffered the greatest per capita D-Day losses in the entire nation.  The memorial honors the Allied forces that participated in the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 where more than 9,000 allied soliders were either killed or wounded as the march across Europe to defeat Hitler began.  A MUST see memorial!

Reynold's Garden symbolizes the planning and preparation activities for the invasion.

Each plaque represents individuals who received the Purple Heart.
